Highlights from the June 15 Meeting
Work on the upcoming rodeo was discussed. The chores of manning the concession stand, the gate, parking and other aspects of the two-night event were discussed.
Ed A. spoke regarding the Christian Motorcycle Association’s bike ride sponsored by Alleghany Connections. Participants will get a free lunch at the Higgins Fairgrounds concession stand when the ride is completed.
The group voted to give the Boy Scouts a $500 donation.
David Hedrick presented a very interesting program about leathercraft. Mr. Hedrick brought several pieces of art, duffel bag, purse and other items he had made. He stated that there are around 600 tools used in this craft.
Members were urged to volunteer at the Vision Van on June 18 at the Alleghany Wellness Center/Alleghany Memorial Hospital’s "Be Happy, Be Healthy Celebration."
Everett D. volunteered to take Joe S.i’s place on the flag detail. Joe has done an excellent job soliciting donations from town merchants and getting the group together to put up and take down flags during the holidays. Thanks, Joe!!!
After discussion, the group agreed that members wishing to resign from the Club would be dropped; no one will be dropped unless a personal contact has been made with them to confirm their decision.
HAVE A SAFE HOLIDAY WEEKEND!
PLEASE ATTEND OUR MEETING ON TUESDAY...THE SUCCESS OF OUR CLUB DEPENDS ON ALL OF US!
JUST FOR GRINS
A preacher said, "Anyone with 'special needs' who wants to be prayed over, please come to the front."
With that, Jethro got in line, and when it was his turn, the Preacher asked, "Jethro, what do you want me to pray about for you?"
Jethro replied, "Preacher, I need you to pray for help with my hearing."
The preacher put one hand on Jethro's ear, placed his other hand on top of Jethro's head, and then prayed.
The whole congregation joined in with great enthusiasm.
After a few minutes, the preacher removed his hands, stood back and asked, "Jethro, how is your hearing now?"
Jethro answered, "I don't know. It's not 'til next week."
